Handmade Doll

Handmade dolls were made from whatever materials you had at home. The body was made of scraps of fabric leftover from making clothes or a quilt. The earliest dolls were made by people who lived thousands of years ago. People all over the world made dolls from wood or clay. The earliest rag doll or stuffed doll was created using felt, velvet or mohair and stuffed with straw, horsehair or sawdust. Blue check dress and sun bonnet. Marked K 439 period 1873.
