Franklin Porter silver

Franklin Porter, who took up silversmithing fulltime in 1924 at age 55, went on to produce about 7,000 pieces during the next 11 years. For at least some of that time, he worked out of a small shed located behind the Holten House on Holten Street in Danvers and became known as “The Paul Revere of the 20th Century.”

The photograph shows five pieces of his “Resurrection Communion” silver commissioned by the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
